In attempt to better prepare nursing students for the clinical setting, nursing faculty began using preceptorships as part of all clinical education. Preceptorship programs are fully promoted by nursing professional organizations and are widespread in undergraduate nursing programs. You may be given a pack containing information about the ward and letting you know what you need to do in order to pass your preceptorship. This is to give you the chance to carry out tasks under supervision that you might not have been able to do as a student.
